Armored Saint
Country of origin: United States Location: Los Angeles, California Status: Active Formed in: 1982 Genre: Heavy Metal Themes: Life, Fantasy Current label: Metal Blade Records Years active: 1982-1992, 1999-2003, 2006-present Phil Sandoval left during the recordings of the Delirious Nomad album. The band carried on as a four-piece until Alan Barlam briefly joined and was shortly replaced by Jeff Duncan. Drummer Gonzo Sandoval also quit in 1988. When Armored Saint's other founding guitarist Dave Prichard died of leukemia in 1990, both Sandoval brothers returned to the band for the recording of Symbol of Salvation (with Phil thus playing guitar alongside his replacement). After the release of the album, John Bush joined Anthrax and the band called it quits. Joey Vera released a solo album, joined Fates Warning, and opened a recording studio. The Sandoval brothers started the short-lived Life After Death. In 2018, they toured their "Symbol of Salvation" album, performing it in its entirety. They can be seen playing "Hanging Judge" live in the film Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. John Bush was once asked to join Metallica as lead singer, but declined. He eventually joined them on stage during their 30th-anniversary shows. Line-up: John Bush – Vocals Jeff Duncan – Guitars Phil Sandoval – Guitars Joey Vera – Bass Gonzo Sandoval – Drums
